In this book, Lewis, who was not Catholic, tries to show that there is a common belief that is, or at least should be, shared by all Christians.  The fact that this former atheist turned Christian was not Catholic should not put off the reader.  He makes many interesting and valid arguments for Christianity although somehow he missed the main entrance.
