Description
Jose Sanchez del Rio and his friend Trino were young teenagers when the Cristero War broke out in their hometown of Sahuayo, Mexico. This exciting tale follows Jose through his struggles as the violence escalated, his momentous decision to join the Cristeros in 1927, and his role in the campaign for religious freedom. Captured by government forces, Jose refused to deny his faith in exchange for his life. While being tortured and forced to march to his grave, he cried out, “Viva Cristo Rey!” (Long Live Christ the King!). Canonized in 2016 by Pope Francis, Saint Jose is one of the newest and youngest saints of the Catholic Church and an inspiration to people of all ages. Paper
