Description
Born a peasant in eastern France, Joan of Arc heard God calling her to lead France to victory during the Hundred Years’ War. She refused an arranged marriage, cut her hair short, and communicated God’s message to the king. Under Joan’s leadership, the French gained many pivotal victories. When she was eventually captured, the English executed Joan for charges including witchcraft, wearing men’s armor and claiming to speak to God.
