Description
According to legend, young Lucy brought food and aid to fellow Christians hiding from persecutors during the third century. She used a candle-lit wreath to light her way and carried as much food as possible. Eventually, Lucy was captured and tortured. Her eyes were removed and soon after, she died a martyr. Today in Scandinavia, Saint Lucy’s feast day is a celebration of hope and light during the dark winter months.
