Description
One of the four Gospel writers, Mark may have been one of Christ’s seventy disciples. Some say he was the man who carried water to the house of the Last Supper, and perhaps the young man who fled after Christ’s arrest. He was close friends with St. Peter, who likely gave Mark details for his gospel. Mark’s symbol is a lion, because he describes John the Baptist as a voice “crying out in the wilderness.”
